It’s been devilishly difficult to find places in Santa Cruz County to walk Chico off-leash. A friend of a friend told me about a place on the western edge of Santa Cruz where dogs are welcomed, both on leash and “under voice control.”
Across the street is an entrance to Natural Bridges State Park.

The pond takes up most of the land trust land, the area is tucked in between commercial buildings, the state park, and a farming project.
The pond isn’t that big, but it’s possible to walk all the way around it.

We met a couple other dogs, both friendly and agreeable to Chico. That’s my good boy, more social every week.
I was mistaken, and he got in a good wade.
